Game Designer Skills

What I think I would be good at.

1: Animation
I think I would be good at the Animation skill because of my experience with 2d and 3d animating. I'm better at modelling characters and designing them then giving them realistic movement. However, I'm kind of experienced in blender and at using other animation software. Jesse Schell's list says the characters have to be full of life and have smooth animations. I could supply the looks and someone else in a team can add life in the animations. I could apply the skills I have to create and make the characters in my games, and produce new ones if needed.

2: Creative writing
I think that I would do well in this skill because of all the fictional movies, books , and games I've played in the past. This skill requires you to create fictional world, races, and places and I have some experience in creating some. As I've said before, I have some experience with blender and have created a few animations each with their own worlds. Although the animations I created aren't the best out there, I have had experience creating different worlds and races. I could apply this to my games by creating the hub worlds and level designs.

3: Visual arts
I think that this subject would be one that I'm decent at because of all the games and movies that use visual storytelling to set the mood, tell the story, and to just make us feel good. Games that show a good example of this skill are Dark Souls, Hollow Knight, and The Stanley Parable. I think I could Use my experience seeing these games using Visual arts to set the mood and feeling of the story and games. I could use this skill to make my games more immersive for the player.

What I think I will have a challenge with.

Sound design / Music
I think I wouldn't do very well with this skill because of my lack of experience in doing these things. I love to listen to music in games, and if they're really good, I'll even download some of the ost. However, I have no experience in creating music or sound effects in the slightest. I know that the sound and music are extremely important to the game's feeling and success. You could have a really well designed level that was intended to be a spooky level, but if the music and sound effects are off, the entire immersion could be ruined.
